“The Art and Archives of Judith Shahn”
Curated by Cove Gallery and Lisa Mecham
Wellfleet, MA
August 2-9, 2025

In August 2025, Cove Gallery and Lisa Mecham presented a special exhibition celebrating the life and work of Judith Shahn. Bringing together original artwork with personal papers and photographs, the show offered a rare glimpse into the world of an artist whose creative contributions spanned decades.

Visitors encountered Shahn’s wide-ranging practice—from black-and-white ink drawings published in The New Yorker to vibrant paintings—alongside archival materials that revealed the stories behind her art: her family’s complicated legacy, her years on the Outer Cape, and her lifelong devotion to creative work.

The exhibition marked the first public presentation of materials from the ongoing Finding Judy project, a digital archive devoted to bringing Shahn’s legacy to light.
